West Seattle SummerFest Performance 2024

We work with the producers of West Seattle SummerFest to show off our hard work through Flashmob style performances right in the middle of the street fair! We are looking for people to join in on the fun with us this year, and hopefully many more years to come!

There will be opportunities and choreography for every level of performer to join in on the performance. From complete beginner to advanced.

You’ll be joining my core performers and coming in and out of several choreographies and roles I have to fill in each piece.

OUTFITS:
Generally kept to as minimal a cost as possible, but will usually include buying a top, bottom and accessories. Usually sourcing from Amazon or otherwise affordable retailer.

Orientation

Online Orientation will be held online Monday, May 13 at 7:30pm

In order to make the most of our time together in the studio, we will hold an online orientation for this event.

General Q&A, for the event! What to expect this year!

Introductions, Discussion, Etiquette, Expectations, Past Experiences will all be discussed online this year, in order to make the most of our time in the studio together, focused on rehearsals.

Rehearsal Details & Costs

Flashmob Class/Rehearsal Times:

To start with, there are 2 times a week we rehearse.
Try to make as many as you can. It’s impossible for most people to make all the rehearsals!
You’ll basically be adding an additional couple of classes to your schedule. You won’t be able to make all of them, and that’s ok, so long as you’re getting the choreography.
It’s pretty typical during this time to have to duck out due to summer vacation! Just talk with me about your schedule and we’ll see what we can work out.

Sundays 11:05am – 12:35ish | Viva Arts West Seattle Starts Mid-May
Easy freeway access, parking lot, and street parking as well.

Thursday Evening 7:30pm -9pm | Montlake
Neighborhood street parking, so you may want to carpool until you get the feel of the parking in the area.

Extra Rehearsals
As we get closer, we might throw in some pick-up rehearsals depending on how we are looking

Rehearsal Cost:

Sliding Scale $14- $20 by Cash or Venmo | @JenniferCepeda_Productions
You decide what you are comfortable paying for each rehearsal. I know many of you come to my classes regularly. Use the scale to budget for your classes and rehearsals.
If you aren’t coming to regular classes, then adjust to more of a regular class cost in your budget.

Dress Rehearsal
Done the week of the performance. Monday/Tuesday Evening.

Changes This Year

We will only be at the Junction on Saturday at noon.
This is so that we can have audio support that doesn’t stress the StreetFair Crew’s schedule & set-up. There have been cut-backs on their end this year, so they have limited time to support us.

It is so important to have 2 performances.
I will likely hold an outdoor rehearsal somewhere in a park area ( It will be like a real Flashmob!) The Thursday before, so that we can get those first kinks worked out!

FAQs

What If I can only make one of the days. May I still Perform?
Yes. However this year is a bit different as only one performance will be at the StreetFair. The other will be announced as I know….or may just be for video’s sake only.

I’m on vacation during some of the rehearsal time. Can I still join?

Yes. Just let me know, and we’ll work something out. This is very, very common for this time of year. We’ve never done a performance without people being gone on vacation right before. You will just need to be up to speed with rehearsals and choreography.
If there is a question that you are really behind on the choreo, we’ll chat to see what we can do to still keep you in the performance.

I can’t make every rehearsal. Is it ok to miss some?

Yes. I am making 2 locations for the rehearsals. One up North, and one in West Seattle.
It’s definitely great if you want to come to all the rehearsals, but one a week as we are starting up is ok.

As we start to get to the middle and end, you’ll want to be in as many rehearsals as possible. Always check in with me if you are concerned. We will mostly be able to work things out.

I’m a total beginner but I really want to do the main flashmob. Is that possible?
Ask me if I know you, and if I don’t shoot me an email and let’s discuss your abilities!

What If I have to, or decide to quit before the performance happens?
This is something that happens every year to some degree. People get fatigued, or something comes up! This is the reason it is structured as rehearsal based classes, vs a total fee. You are paying for only instruction received, as you would if you were taking a class.
Also, It’s best to quit BEFORE formations are set.
Do let me know if you are feeling overwhelmed, or if you’ve taken too much on. We can reduce your involvement if needed! It’s important for me to know you are having a fun experience, and learning!
